I paid ~$30. 00 including shipping about 8 mos. ago. It's well made and fits perfect.

SlyBones, you don't say why you think they are a waste of money, but if anyone cares, here's why I'm keeping mine.

After ~20K miles of NO off-road driving ( Yesterday, on another thread I said ~10K, but that was wrong), my AFE mega looks brand new..... nothing in or on the pleats. It would be even more valuable to me if I drove in dusty conditions.

I hate cleaning and re-oiling these type of filters, and I may never have to.

I have run over 200 miles without the Outerwears and could not detect any difference in performance.

It's washable, but I haven't had to. I just wipe it off with a California Duster every 5K when I change my oil. I took it off the AFE a few weeks ago, and turned it inside out. Nothing on the inside surface.

I have no interest in the company... . I'm just bored, and not as passionate as it appears.

This is why I didnt care for the pre-filter. Turbo spoolup is slower, respose is slower, etc. Truck seems to smoke a little more as a result. I have not dyno'd with a before/after so I cant say if it effects peak hp.

I also bought this many months ago. Installed it, then removed it. Then on a whim installed it again a few months ago, right after having my shift points tweaked. I drove around for 3 days being very disapponted and wondering how changing the 2-3 shift point could do this. Then I got the idea to remove the prefilter. And all was good again.

For me I have had the same mods for quite some time. My brain/foot are tuned to the truck. My foot knows how far to move to get a certain response. When I install the prefilter it all gets thrown out of wack. I drive around noticing the response of the truck is different. My brain/foot calibrations are off. Maybe the benefit is worth it. I will not say they dont keep the filter clean/cleaner. I will say I believe there is a difference in performance/drivability.

In the end for me, its $30 or so bucks that riding around somewhere under the back seat and not under the hood.

pre filter

I feel no difference with or without in power and performance, I feel they are a plus. I think if it causes that much of a drop in performance then we should tell the, open wheel stock cars, midgets, sprint cars, off road race trucks, buggies, bikes that they can gain some power by removing there's also... ... ... . Just a little humor don't take me serious... ... ... ;) :D
