I'm holding out for an AFE quality drop-in or BHAF that fits inside the existing breather box.

When you got your Afe what all did it come with and where did you get yours from?

Bought it from genos.

It has the Shield with a rubber seal for it. An elbow that attatches to the shield to connect the stock air hose to the new filter. The elbow also has the mount for the AIT sensor and a piece of rubber hose and clamps to adapt the fitler minder to the new system. Then the huge filter.

I also ordered the pre-filter which looks nice.

The only thing I don't like about it is when I have the exhaust brake engaged for warm up I can hear an almost knocking sound through the filter, which I assume is just normal engine noise, and I can't hear it at all w/ the brake off.

Geno has the aFe Pro-Guard 7 drop-in stock replacement filter for stock housings AFE73-10102 for $83. 29 it is shown on page 9 of catalog 42.

:p Bought from Bob, the best diesel mechanic in So. Cal, if you live here you know who he is... Also removed Silencer Ring...

Entirely different ballgame...

Thanks BOB...

not to stray off the topic but how long did it take to remove your silencer ring? Did you have it removed before you got your intake?

The noise you hear is the vacuum pump.

AFE on 03/Scotty KN on 02

Well guys:

Got an AFE on my wife's 03 and a Scotty w/ KN on my 02. Both are great and flow well.

AFE Pro-Guard*7... ... because it supposedly passes the 99. 5% filtering efficiency rating. Looks good, too. I'm quite happy with mine so far, just can't wait for winter to be over so I can reconnect my EDGE and see how well they work together.

And as Mark told me over on DTR, this was on a Duramax.

Since we do not have a system for a Dmax and this is a Dodge site, I think its not as accurate of a test as claimed.

;)

We only use AFE filters with our airbox kit for the 03/04 Dodges. They are the best.

I wouldn't bother with an in-the-box filter for one of these trucks... the stock box is the restriction.
