Talked to my local parts guy who called AFE and they say they are not releasing the PG7 Intake systems with TT for 05's until next week. Can that be right? I wonder if they made some changes from the 04. 5 model. I thought I had seen on here where some guys with 05's had already put this system on, so I assumed the 04. 5 system would fit the 05's. Anyone who can shed some light on this subject would be appreciated.

Come on guys, I know there has to be a few of you out there with 05's with the PG7 intake and TT installed. If so, where did you get them and is the one you have specifically for 05's or 04. 5's?

I just installed a PG7 on my 04. 5 and everything went in great except for when I shut the hood. It is pushing the hood up on the side where the PG7 is installed. Looks as if the air box is too tall and will not let my hood close like it should. I thought there was a seperate kit for the 04. 5, but, my doesn't fit unless I was sent the wrong kit. I am going to have to shave off some of the air box to get my hood to shut properly. The performance of the kit is outstanding, and with the addition of the torque tube, it whistles much louder. :-laf

BApple, it is a separate kit. I had two, both verified to be the correct part number and had the same problem with both. I returned them and am going the BHAF route.

Mark, could I use the Cool tube with the Fleetguard AH19037 on an 04. 5? If so, how does the sensor mount?

Thanks,

Jim

Just got done with the fab work on the AFE box. Took my Dremel and cut about 1/4 inch-1/2 inch off the top of the box all the way around. Sanded the edges down and put the weather stripping back on. Looks great and the hood closes down perfectly. Someone needs to tell AFE that the part #631 for the 04. 5's does NOT fit. It can be made to fit with a little cutting, but most don't want to do that. I didn't want to not use the AFE PG7 since I have heard so many good things about it,, and that's why I took the time to cut the box down to fit. Unless my 04. 5 if different, the kit they market for the 04. 5 will not fit without bowing your hood up. Just takes a little cutting to get it right. On the other hand, I can really tell that the truck is breathing much much better and it sounds great also. Good luck.

Mark,

Not sure why the kit didnt fit my truck. It fits now :D . Jcarey had the same problem as myself with the fitment. Maybe it's just a problem on certain 04. 5 trucks? Otherwise I love the kit and the truck feels and sounds great!

I had a similar problem on my 04. 5 and called AFE. They said as long as it is the right part number all you need to do is to remove the rubber grommet at the base of the air box mount and it should fit fine. Not sure if you tried this yet or not. Hate to see you guys have to cut anything.

I had the same problem with my 04. 5 and the afe kit for the 04. 5. I cut slits in the noise blanket to match to afe frame edge. Works fine and doesnt look that bad.
