AFE Pro Dry S - Replacement

Just wanted to post something regarding the new offering from AFE. I had quite a difficult time finding this replacement filter from any of the vendors listed on AFE's dealer list, namely Geno's Garage. Finally emailed AFE and they pointed me to PDQ Performance warehouse out of Sanford, FL. I ordered Wednesday afternoon and the UPS man just dropped it off. It is the dry type replacement for the Stage 1 AFE Intake system I have on my truck. I was due to clean/re-oil my current filter and don't like having to have the truck down for half a day waiting for the filter to dry after cleaning before re-oiling. I'll install it tomorrow and post some follow-up info on how clean/dirty it looks compared to the current filter's past performance. Part #21-90028 if anyone is interested. FYI, it was $52 plus s/h. Would someone chime in on whether or not one should run the outerware with this one or not?

Have AFE Proguard 7... Do not run pre-filter (outerware)... live in Arizona in the desert.



Probably 10,000 mi since install... does not appear to have any clogging problems, it looks like it would go many more miles.

I would run pre-filter/outerwear on any of the filters. It keeps off any larger particles from getting on/into the filter. Keeps it clean longer and easier to clean if applicable. It will also keep most water/mud/ice from getting directly on the filter and causing issues. I have used a pre-filter on all of my different air take filters. There is not enough restriction from a pre-filter to matter much except at the track. Just my . 02.

After a month of running it in relatively clean conditions, it still looks great. Filter minder hasn't moved off 100% and turbo whistle is more noticable. OTT, nothing really to report.

Sent this to AFE:

Just received the Pro Dry 21-90021 for my 06 dodge cummins. I have been using the stage 2 pro guard 7. Question: Your literature for the pro guard 7 says 99. 5% efficiency is easy to attain with coarse dust, but fine dust is another matter. The Pro Dry claims 99. 4% efficiency with coarse dust. How about the fine dust?
Since I have both filters now for my truck which is the best for harsh dusty conditions?

Just got this from AFE:

The pro guard 7 series filter is the best for dusty conditions. As for the Pro Dry - S efficient rating I believe just like the PG-7 filter it is a fine dust test as well.
