Does anyone know if the AFE Proguard 7 stage 1 air filter system is California BAR approved? If it is does anyone know how to get the bar sticker for it?

from what I remember in reading other threads there are models form S&B and AFE as well as K&N that are c. a. r. b okay that have the sticker. but I believe they were certain models only... and I have also heard of people using K/N's kit but replacing the filter with a amsoil or AFe replacement.

if you know what one you want get a part # and research it or just call a dealer. good luck

I have to say Advanced Flow Engineering are at the top of my list of the best people to deal with. I sent an email to them asking about the CARB sticker the answer was send me a picture and I will check it out. I sent two pictures of of the AFE Filter and I received my CARB sticker in the mail today. Wahoo don't have to reinstall the factory air box. Now I just have to find a Catalytic Converter to flange up and put in the exhaust for the smog then pull it and put the pipe back in it's place after. The joys of living in California.

Your truck came with a resonator and a muffler. No cat needed for the '98. 5-2002 24v engine.

Muffler shop is calling it a catalytic converter and big bucks to install it. Soooo what is it a Cat or a Resonator? Who knows the rest of the story?

You are 100% correct I ran my vin through the local Dodge Dealer and sure enough the truck never had a Catalytic Converter on it. All this time I was thinking dang I should have kept that thing. So I am one happy camper I am actually driving a smog legal truck guess I picked the right year after all. Thanks guys for all the posts and help what a great place to hang out.
