I just cleaned my AFE filter last week and just noticed last night that I had pulled it down into the RED!! Is anyone running some other filter that fits that box and tube setup?

Mine's in the red almost everytime I pop the hood. Has been that way from day 1. I think it's because that gauge is not meant for that much airflow. Plus it's got to suck through that little piece of hose rather than being mounted right on the box as it is from the factory so it's probably not getting a real accurate reading. I've read where several other peoples AFE is doing the same thing so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Mine gets close to or in the red fairly quickly too. When I pulled my silencer ring out Saturday, just to see if anything might be getting trhrough the filter I wiped the inside of my tube with a fancy schmancy no lint photographic lens cleaning cloth from my wife. No trace of anything.

I'm ordering a second filter soon so I can swap them out at cleaning time to make sure the filter that got cleaned is good and dry before it gets put on.

Perhaps it's pulling down into the red for two reasons:

1) Might you have over-oiled the filter when you cleaned it? It would be harder for air to flow if there's too much oil.

2) It's winter, did the filter get rain soaked? My AFE got soaked every time it rained, so I pulled it off altogether. I just ordered another filter plus a pre-filter. I'm hoping the pre-filter will keep the water off the main filter.

I looked inside my Torque Tube, and could see where water and oil had pulled through and ran down the inside of the tube. The water caused the aluminized tube to corrode. You could wipe your finger inside and it would turn white. I also checked my turbine blades and they were sticky.

Keep in mind this was with a brand new filter, not a cleaned and re-oiled filter.

I just received my "Cool Blue Hose" and am waiting for my PG7 replacement to arrive Friday. I hope this solves my problem of the filter getting wet.

I thought the "Cool Blue Hose" would solve the possibility of corrosion in the pipe. When they told me the hose was internally braced, I had envisioned wire wrapped inside the silicone. Nope, it has two steel rings (sections of 4" pipe) pushed inside the hose. I suppose they could rust/corrode as well. We'll see. I'm thinking that the new Torque Tube design might be the best.

I have the afe with pro-guard 7 and torque tube. I bought a pre-filter when I bought the afe to start with. I am glad I did, I can tell that water and mud have splashed on the pre-filter. Seems to keep enough water/mud from getting to the actual filter to do any soaking or damage.

I am also ordering a second filter so I can clean one and take enough time to do it right.

There was another thread about the filter minder. I dont think where it installs on the afe input tube is optimal. I dont really pay much attention to it. Mine doesn't pull down in the red, but I just push the button when I check the filter weekly no matter where it is down to.
