I helped a friend install a new kit on his truck. (megacannon) His filter was kinda white like it might not have been charged with oil. I heard someone else posted that his might not have been oiled. Anyone install one recently that can tell if the filter should be pinkish from the factory (oiled), how do you tell? Also any thought about using K&N recharge kit on the AFE? Thanks

I did not get the mega cannon but I did get the drop in replacement from AFE and it was indeed pink and oily.

The instructions that came with it stipulated that the filter was pre-oiled too.

My system was pre-oiled from the factory. It won't hurt to add a little oil filter oil to filter if it looks white.

According to AFE, you want a very light film of oil, so don't overoil the filter. I have seen AFEs that were gold, blue, etc. so color is not always red. I'd call them before adding any oil.
