I'm quite interested in the article in the latest issue of the TDR, comparing the aFe stage 1 and the PSM-modified stock airbox. I've got the stage 1 on my truck, and since I really only use it to tow my 5er, if the PSM really does improve engine performance (once fully heated up underhood), I might consider going with the PSM. Can anybody who's used both systems comment as to the towing performance difference between them?

I've talked to the owner/designer of the PSM System. He has done a lot of work on his system & has a lot of information to back up his claims.



If I'm not mistaken, he recommends the use of an AFE (drop-in) filter to get the best results with his system. I, also, have an '03 with the AFE System & have been considering doing the same, as you. It should be interesting to see what replies you get to this thread.

I have the PSM system along with the DPP Cool Red hose and aFe PG-7 drop-in filter and am extremely pleased with the performance of these items. However, I have not installed the Stage 1 or other open filter systems on my truck so I can't really answer your question.



If you tow and run in warm or hot ambients, the PSM performance data is hard to deny.



Towing my 10,800 lb 5er, my EGTs never get above 1100F, towing up a 6% grade so the system must be doing ok. I don't have the Smarty downloaded yet and I'm running 80hp KAX injectors.

we started out testing the afe before 59 came out we used a one gallon clear pipe with solenoids in the cab along with gages , pulling a 5th wheel at 65 mph, the afe lost quite a bit , have a pile of 3 afe stage 1 , stage 2 and airaid silencer tube kits if you want to buy them i will make you a good deal
