After reading the article from the latest TDR Issue (43); Titled Ultimate Air for "94-02 Turbo Diesels; I decided to purchase one of these boxes. I had a K&N drop in before and at this elevation plus with the Mach2's I wanted to get more air.
I bought the 54-10072; installation was simple enough; so off I went to test my new toy. Here is what I've seen so far.
0-60 with the K&N averaged 12. 79 sec. (4 runs)
0-60 with the Stage 2 averaged 12. 68 sec. (4 runs)
Difference . 11 Sec.
Just cruzing I noticed that there was a little less smoke and that the boost was lower by a little bit.
Another interesting fact is that full boost under WOT is 2lbs less; 36 down to 34.
Is it worth it? I don't know if fuel milage will increase then all the better. However, the article is misleading when it said; "Initial horsepower and torque gains were so unbelievable that we are double checking our numbers. "
I called them three times, wanting them to tell me what was so unbelievable. I asked for stats, = H. P, EGT's ect. No one was able to tell me. It was there article in the TDR, they put it in so they should know.
It's not unbelievable.
