Install of Bypass. Motor now "howells" under load above 1800rpm

Hose damper and rubber piece. To dampen the by-pass filter's virbrations.

I am always looking for a little more... ... ..... without adding fuel. Quite a few others have asked my opinion of the new system,so I picked one up to try it for my self. I previously had the AFE stage 2. That has been great, but there is some controversy over underhood temps making a difference. The install was simple enough maybe half an hour to go from the old style to the new. The mounting is virtually the same. Note the extra scoop on the bottom for additional cold air

#ad

The first benefit is that filter cleaning will be easier. The element is directly attatched to the lid (also less risk of any leaks).

The next thing I noticed is the High temp connector hose at the turbo. Very nice quality. You can just make it out in the first pic (whoops forgot to get a good shot of that)

A quick trip to Home depot tonight didn't give me enough time to make any judgement on noise or performance but I will be towing about 450 miles this week end and doing a lot of off-roading Oo.

I'll post up my observations after the trip.

I saw in another post you towed this past weekend with your new intake...

Care to share your impressions?

Yea,Towed with it this wk-end. I went from the Stg2 to this enclosed system. It is of course a quiet intake. Never got any intake noise even when we were out racing around at our sandy destination. On the trip out I climbed a good grade at 1500 rpm towing the 25 ft trailer and some camping gear in the bed. I was sitting at 950 on the pyro. 15. 6 mpg on the way out,avg speed about 60 up to 70+ a few times during passing. With the $ 3. 50 gallon fuel prices I drive conservatively till I hit the dirt... ... ... ... then IT'S ON :-laf

I will be pulling the lid off as soon as I get a little time to see if the filter stays cleaner now that it is more protected by it's enclosure

I did about 100 miles in the dunes, testing the upgraded suspension from Carli.

We added his new Variable rate springs and rear bumps in conjunction with the long travel air bags. I thought it was good before... ... ... . wow! now its another big leap forward.

Feel free to ask any questions,I doubt I covered everything... ... .....
