I bought an AFE trans pan for my 2007. 5. I had the fluid and filters changed and pan installed at the local trans shop. I put the temp senor in before they installed the pan. When I picked the truck up, the guy told me the sensor was close to the crossmemeber and he didn't think the wiring would plug in. When I got it home I crawled under and sure enough there is only about 3/8" clearance. I took pictures of it and called AFE. They hadn't heard of any problem before and were very interested. He had some pictures showing the pan didn't have a lot of clearance without a sensor. The sensor he had was one with a stud where the wire attached with a ring terminal which would have worked. I'm using the Autometer temp gauge.
He had me send him the pictures and he is turning it over to their designers to see what they can do for future pans. That doesn't help me for now. I am going to buy a B&M drain plug and remove the pan and locate it at another location.
