I just switched from the AFE drop-in panel filter to the NAPA Gold filter with the 4" pleated paper. Here you can see a comparison of the depth of the AFE on the left and the NAPA on the right. The NAPA Gold has LOTS of surface area.

NAPA part number shown on right - fits my stock air box perfectly (of course... )

You might give your NAPA store a call first to check stock. Mine had to do a store transfer to get this one in for me; although it only took them 1. 5 hrs. to get it. Cost to me was $28 or so - all in w/ tax was just over $30.

All 5. 9's can use the new filter.

Napa P/N - FIL9946
Wix P/N - 49946
Dodge P/N - 53034249AA

Dust capacity - 540g
Max air flow rate - 675 cfm
Max pressure drop - 0. 36 psi
Efficiency - 99. 6%
42 pleats 3. 75" tall

Do you have the specs on the original-design air filter?

Thanks.

Baldwin also has the 4" filter just ask for the filter for the 09 or newer truck. Sorry I don't have the part number. But I did find that boost comes on sooner and runs about 1. 5 psi higher than with the stock filter 1. 75"and foam pad.

The Baldwin P/N for the 6. 7 is PA4318.

6. 7 Dimensions
10. 93" Long
9. 91" Wide
4 3/8" Deep

5. 9 Dimensions
10. 75" Long
10. 00" Wide
4" Deep

If I am not mistaken, the reason for the different P/N for the 5. 9 is because the pleats were too long on the 6. 7 filter causing it to hit the bottom of the airbox.

Outside dimensions of the 6. 7 filter shows it will fit, but it would fit sloppy.

When the 6. 7L filter box was redesigned from the 5. 9, the depth of the step in the lower shell was increased to clear the taller pleats. Hence the pleats of the 6. 7 filter would hit the shallower step in the 5. 9L lower. The tall pleat 5. 9L replacement filter must have narrower pleats at the bottom to clear this shallow step in the 5. 9 box.

Fleetguard does not cross the filter yet.

I have sent an e-mail to technical.

Looks like a good idea without having to tinker with the stock airbox.

Your right about the 6. 7 filter is slightly larger and it hits the molded in tab/ notches in the lower box. But if your careful you can get it to slip in by distorting the pleets only slightly. It works and gives you the benifit of the better filter. Thanks for the part number.

i purchased one from dodge for 32. and change , they are for sever duty and fit like a glove in my 04
