I wanted to turn it up to get some more smoke, it has never been touched. I got a big allen wrench on it and tried to turn it, The thing refuses. I tried my best a bunch of times with no luck. Any ideas??

Hammer? :)

Mine was painted in place, very tight. I used an impact wrench, came right out.

You could get more leverage on your allen wrench with a piece of pipe or a box wrench.

Counterclockwise equals more smoke, correct? :)

Anyone off hand know what size it is, I might head down and get a socket type

Erik

8mm allen. Top of star wheel towards the motor = more smoke. :D

If you don't already have one, an impact driver may help.

You do know the starwheel is beneath the 8mm allen plug. Remove the plug, then adjust the wheel towards the engine for more smoke.

Hey guys, got a pipe on that baby tonight and it finally broke. Wow, I wish dodge could have used that engine paint on our 2nd gens. LOL that would be the best paint ever... .

Now, i tried turning the star wheel gear toward the engine and it is even tighter than the allen cover bolt LOL...

Anyone experiance that. It almost feels like i need a chisel and a hammer on the teeth of it to break it loose. I don't want to distroy anything, anyone run into the same problem?

Thanks

erik

it should not be tight like that, because the fuel should lubricate it. try turning it both ways to try and loosen it. im not sure about this, havent tried it , but maybe some penetrating oil? if anyone knows if this is not good, please post, i don't want to screw anything up...

Hey- I'll try that, anyone else think pb blaster or wd would be okay to use? Also, how many clicks towards the engine should I go with it? Stock plate and 370's

thanks

erik

You'll just have to play with it, to see where you like it. I'd start with 20 clicks, then go from there.

The wheel shoudn't turn that hard. It does have lube oil in there. If you have the screwdriver to far down the side of the wheel, it won't turn. Try up on top, if you haven't.

gut the afc and be done with the whole thing LOL

my spring has no compression on it and i get FULL fuel at 15 psi you can take the afc off and blow regulated air into it and determine when the arm is out of the way.

with a 10 plate full foward the arm never gets completely out of the way of rack travel.

Been playing with my pump the past couple of days. I initially set the plate in stock position, and tightened the AFC spring a little, to help the stock transmission out a little.

Now, with a BOMBed transmission, the plate is full forward, and the starwheel is as far as I can turn it (looser). I thought the 40 spooled halfway decent before. MUCH better now. Cut the lag quite a bit. Lot less heavy smoke, unless I plant the go pedal with little or no boost. :D :-laf

Not quite done, yet. May gut the AFC next, or put in a lighter spring.
