Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) aft turbo oil hole?

Did I break it? I tried to remove the plug which I did successfully but the plug went in instead of out. will it settle to the bottom of the pan and stay there or will it get caught up into the crank or plug the oil pickup and destroy the engine? Does this mean I get to pull the oil pan and go fishing for the plug ? and if the pan has to be removed will it drop far enough to remove the offending object ,clean the old seal off put new sealant on and replace the gasget without dropping the transmission????help. KE one other question is the plug attracted to a magnet or is it aluminum or. ?#@$%!
