Bed Rub Installation

I would like to install a wireless back up camera for my 14' Tradesman Crew Cab 2500 Long Bed Diesel. When I purchased the truck I went with the "Plain Jane" Tradesman package that did not include a backup camera. Now, I wish I spent the extra money that included this feature. I tried a Boyo Wireless System but could not a signal from the rear camera to the monitor in the cab. I returned that item.

Have any of you found a after market system that works well for you without having to break the bank. I am now considering a hard wired system as well.
Thanks.....
Reno Dave

Reno Dave. I tried one wireless and one wired. The first was an auto parts store wireless cheapie. About $65.00. The transmitter was a little on the
weak side so I mounted it as close to the cab as possible under the bed rail with nylon cable mounting supports along the way and velcro for the
transmitter with the antenna pointing away from metal. The screen was a bit small and I don't remember if it was black and white or color but it
worked real well for hitching up to the ball. My wife would only need to tell me to stop backing when its over the ball. However, since we usually
hitch up early in the morning, the east sun would glare right in the windshield and I couldn't see the screen very well because of the glare.
But all I needed to do was hold the screen down on my chest and look down on it and that worked out just fine. Hitching was then the cat's meow.

Reno Dave. Some how the rest of my reply was cut out. I went on to say that I also bought the Rostra Rearsight wired backup later.
The Rostra had the screen built in the rear view mirror provided. When I first tried it hitching up again in the morning, the glare around
the mirror made it impossible to make out the image. I would need to block out all around it with a jacket or map in order to see it
enough to hitch up. It took a few tries. Worse than the wireless cheapie. I will keep the Rostra on until it craps out, then reinstall
the wireless cheapie again if not sooner.

I was just shopping for a wired unit for a customer and bought a voyager kit for about $300 on amazon. I notice that they sell several wireless kits. I cannot speak for their quality yet but I think that they are used on a lot of RV's. We did have a customer with voyager cameras at work and they seemed to be decent quality but they were still fairly new. I would think that their wireless range would be pretty good to work on an RV. For that kind of money you could consider the edge insight system with a camera, not sure how well that camera works on them though.

I recently installed a Garmin GPS backup combo. My camera is for the Airstream. IMHO the image quality is just OK, not stellar compared to my Son's Accord. The Garmin does help.

i've read that the Edge add on camera is not that great. However the Edge does have an RCA jack that you could use any manufacturers camera.
The RAM OEM kit sells for about $300 but you need the dealer to do a computer update to the radio to make it work.
