Hello! I’m new here, I’ve been having trouble with shift in my 98 12v. Before people start with the TV cable adjustment, that’s not it. Ive narrowed it down to a bad ecm, ecu or what ever they call it. The truck has a solid trans but it skips 2nd gear entirely and goes straight to 3rd at roughly 11mph. I have been thru solenoids and governors. Even had the valve body evaluated by an expert. Then I put pressure gauge on it whilst driving and found the pressure to be well above what it should be and erratic. So I sent the PCM out to a company, all they said was it has a micro processor fault and they couldn’t fix it. So now I’m searching for a replacement, man I can’t believe how expensive they are. But I found an aftermarket module from Oreillys that’s affordable, does anyone have any experience with them? I want a quality but have to remind myself this isn’t a NOS resto. It’s a 20 yo truck that I would just be happy that it shifts right. So maybe a module might be ok from aftermarket, thoughts?
