Has anyone with a moderately to heavily bombed truck ever gone to the dealer after warranty time for service and left "everything" in. If so what did they say?

Just curious.

I know that the service writer at Aurora Dodge in SW Missouri was telling me that their 2 diesel mechanics had installed bigger injectors and fueling boxes on "their" new 02 trucks.

If I were a diesel mechanic at a local Dodge dealer, I wonder if the service manager would tend to "ignore" my RV275's and Edge Box when I told him/her my VP44 just crapped out this morning with only 35,000 miles on the clock? Wonder if that ever happens? At least I could get paid to work on my own truck :) .

Once the warranty is out, they shouldn't care what you've done as long as your willing to pay the hourly rates. Of course there may be a chance that they cannot diagnose a problem with the tools they have because the mods have taken the engine way out of the trouble shooting parameters. For instance, if overboost is causing headgaskets to blow, they may not realize you have a boost fooler since no codes get set. I'd personally want to discuss my own truck with the person that was going to be working on it.

While I am under warranty still in some aspects, last trip I left everything in the truck. The "head" diesel guy and myself had a discussion about this and that, and this particular dealer will attempt to warranty a VP44, but if Bosch rejects it you must foot the bill. Some go through some don't. What surprised me was when he said it was only around $1700 (including labor). Key thing with this dealer is be honest and upfront about it.

Dealer? What dealer?

My truck has never seen the stealer since my warranty ended... . The stealers charge WAY too much, and the majority of them don't know their ass from a hole in the wall when it comes to working on our trucks. You are much better taking it to a reputable diesel shop or equivalent in your area... . ;)

I was actually relieved when my warranty ended. It was BOMBS AWAY! :D Oo. :D

I am out of warranty and my extended warranty. I work for an import dealer owned by a large company that also owns the local Dodge dealer. I get 1/2 price labor, for company employees. I doubt my truck will ever see that lot again, even with the price break.

I paid one of our BMW techs the same amount the dealer wanted to install my south bend clutch. I would rather have a tech I know is good do it for the first time, than the dealer.
