Hear it! HRVP 44 lope

Anybody using an aftermarket air horn? Did you find any difference in performance or mpg? What kind of manifold, and where did you purchase?

You might try a search, but I remember several years ago (1999-2001 timeframe), someone did some dyno time with and without the Banks High Ram, and posted here on TDR. Surprise!!! The HighRam (red intake) cost a few hp, somewhere near 14, if memory serves. Fact is, on forced-air induction such as turbo or super-charged engines benefit less than normally aspirated engines because they are being "force-fed" and don't suffer as much from turbulent flow problems. The high-ram intake does little to increase the efficiency of getting the compressed air into the cylinders. In my opinion, smoothing the intake flow only matters in seriously modified engines that are attempting to squeeze out those last few horsepower. Most of us are not in this situation; our money is better spent on the fueling and compressor (turbo).

The aftermarket air horns weren't really needed on the 98-02 24 valve motors. The CR motors need them though. The inside of the air horn is necked down so far that it isn't funny. Either get a stock one off the 24 valve motors or get an ATS arc-flow.
