You could try a Goodyear gatorback belt, I had one on my GMC and it was very quiet. The Goodyear belt is grooved from side to side as well as the long ways grooves.
My 01 chirped after i changed the belt i thought i bought a decent belt but it wasn't so i found a place that sold gatorbacks and put that on and chirp stopped. My new truck does it everytime i turn it off they must be putting cheap belts on from mexico now.
I was wondering what that sound was... . My dealer is looking at the noise today... ..... and various other little things..... I wonder what they will have to say about the "chirp"
The belt chirp is perfectly normal. The engine stops before the belt and accessories can stop causing the chirp. It's a Cummins not Cummings. Welcome to diesel world. Bill
Thanks for all the replies fellas. I realize it is a normal function,i just get tired of relating that story to anyone who is within 50' of my truck when i turn it off.
