Aftermarket Brake Pads and Slotted Discs

I just wanted to hear what people have to say about their aftermarket brake parts. I've pondered slotted discs or some of the pads that are supposed to handle higher temps without getting severe brake fade. I have brakes on all of the axles on my trailers but hills and stop and go driving can still be hard on the truck brakes especially when your pulling 17-18K.



I know that aftermarket calipers with more pistons usually cost a fortune. I think you usually have to get larger discs (and wheels) to accommodate the upgraded calipers. I'll probably get an exhaust brake for my next truck. A grand spent on an exhaust brake seems like a better deal than adding over sized calipers and discs.

I've been pretty happy with my slotted discs and superduty calipers from EGR Brakes. Had them on a couple of years, along with their stainless steel braided lines.



About once or twice a year I pull the caliper retaining bolts and clean them off and relube the bushings so the calipers float properly and I'm getting good, even wear on the pads. And they stop very nicely and predictably.
