If you have an aftermarket bumper/guard installed, do you have a difficult time working on the engine or engine compartment? With the way the bumper guard wraps around the front it seems like it would get in the way.

I have a 96 and am contimplating getting a nice bumper/guard, but don't want to make working on the truck any harder.

Thanks for the info!

No problem with my Ranch hand, but then again I'm 6'7" so I have a little more reach than most folks!;) Actually I think that since you can stand on the thing it may make it easier in some cases.

I think it makes it easier. I use mine for a chair sometimes. You don't need a step stool to work on the front of the engine.

Mine stick out in front of the gril about 11 inches. It also makes a handy tool holder.

I agree with Gitch

My Ranch Hand replacement bumper has the integral grill guard. It makes a nice place to sit while changing oil.

I'll third that. The DOR makes it easier to work on the engine compartment. Basically a built in step area.

Due to bulk and weight, change the camshaft or do anything requiring removal of the bumper before installing the aftermarket one. Brush guards are more in the way than the bumper for most maintenance.
