those of you with aftermarket chrome wheels:

do they hold up to the winter weather? the ones i am looking at have a 1 year warantee on the finish and lifetime on structure. would a good cleaning every week keep them nice? thanks... james :D

I hope you kept your factory shoes man.

If salt or whatever get on them they can start to pit in 48 hours and sometimes less if a scratch is already in the finish. Put your factory rims and tires on there and wait till about a month after the last snow this winter before you put your chrome rims back on so all the salt will get washed away.

I think it depends on the wheel. The chrome steelies in my '03 QC held up through several salty MN winters and still looked good. I am not sure sure about aftermarket wheels though. As mentioned, an damage will cause problems. Washing them certainly will help keep them nice. Probably the only way to find out how they actually hold up is if someone else has direct experience with the same wheel, or at least brand of wheel as you. Not all chrome is created equal ;)
