My gf backed into my truck recently and I'm about to get it repaired under her insurance (all estimates are in the $4100-4800 range). It dented in the driver's side of the bed and tore up the dually fender.

So here's my question... what are the various aftermarket dually fenders out there, and are they any good compared to a genuine replacement from DC? I'm wondering since I half expect the insurance company to want to use aftermarket parts.

So, are the aftermarket replacement fenders any good?

Thanks!

Rob

I have a like new dually bed. I can bring it as far as PHX. $950. It is white in color. Have it painted and put the rest of the $4,000 in GOODIES!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rob, If you think you may take Barry up on his bed offer, I have a trip to Arizona planned. Would be happy to bring the bed the rest of the way home. I live in the Bay Area and Concord is just next door. Let me know. Gunny

Rob,

Your insurance company can't make you use replacement parts. Once the deductible has been paid, you can choose where you get it repaired, including Dodge body shops... ;)

I had a real bad experience using after market body parts on an Accord. Even though the plastic panels looked the same as OEM and were of quarter the price they wouldn't hold paint even after three tries with different preparations. Finally had to bite the bullet replace the parts with OEM. Some insurance companies will only let you use OEM.

Sort of on the topic...

While in San Diego over T-day I saw a 1st gen dually that had 'square' dually fenders not the typicall nasty lookin Dodge afterthougts. They sort of looked like a truncated version of a 2nd gen dually fender - looked really good. Not sure if it was an aftermarket dually conversion or not - didn't see the 250/350 badge.

Rick is right on the money!!! If you find a A/M fender - it won't match the other side.

Make the ins. company figure oem parts, get themto make the check payable to you - and go get that bed from Barry (that bed's worth much more than what he's asking);)

But remember, the body shop will charge more to paint the whole bed assembly than just the damaged side, and new fender!

Many thanks to Barry and Gunny for their kind offers! I've made a deal with Barry for the bed he has for sale, and now I'm hoping to coordinate the transportation with Gunny.

Now I don't have to worry about the quality of aftermarket parts.

Thanks a bunch!!!!
