Does anyone know of a supplier for a 1st gen aftermarket exhaust manifold/header? I'm getting ready to do the pyro install and figured I might as well get the good stuff if there is one. All of the aftermarket intakes usually have extra tapped holes for thermo gauges, etc, so there might be something similar for our 1st gener's.

If not, where is the best place to install the pyro probe? I figure right before the turbo inlet? I have to replace the exhaust manifold -to-head gaskets soon anyway so I'm just going to take the manifold out and do the drilling then. Do you have to weld on a bung for the probe or will drilling and tapping work just as well?

Any CTD-important tips on removing 212,000 mile-old ex manifold or turbo bolts??? Don't wanna to break any off if I can avoid it..... ;)

Thanks guys,

- Sam

From what I've read here, the 12 valve ATS 3-piece manifold will work great on our trucks. I know there are at least a couple of people here who've done it, so hopefully they'll pitch in with some comments.

Get some "PB Blaster" penetrating catalyst from your auto parts store and spray it on your bolts before trying to remove them. If they are really rusty, spray them a couple of times and lightly tap on them. Let it sit on there for a while, or overnight, and let it go to work. That stuff works GREAT! Seen cost from $4-7 but it is worth it. Hasn't failed me yet.
