I am planning on buying a new turbo with my income tax check in the near future :-laf ..... I am thinking of going with the sps 62, or httb2 and eventually converting to twins..... Do I really need to get a after market exhaust manifold?? What are the benefits of a aftermarket manifold, and which one do yall recommend??? Thanks Wes

Just installed my ATS 2 piece and SPS 62/14 this past week. Biggest benefit I know of is the aftermarket piece gets rid of the bottleneck between cylinders 4&5 IIRC. Don't know what you are using for a boost gauge, but plan on upgrading that to a 60# unit, I had too. 35 # gauge won't cut it.

If you're going to do twins you'll need the 3 piece 24V manifold anyway so you might as well wait and do that one. I haven't seen much empirical evidence of the benefit of the ATS or BD manifolds but they look to be an advantage.

I too would not even do it unless you go with the 24v 3pc. You've got to get the turbo back where it belongs, & it just seems like things would be more balanced between cyl 3 & 4, as opposed to 4 & 5.

Yep the stock manifold is pretty crapola for cylinders 4 & 5. The exhaust passage goes directly between those two cylinders with the passage to the outlet coming off at 90* between them. Very inefficient- the ATS transitions 4-5-6 much better than the stocker.
