Anyone want a 68 Vette Convertible?

MDW - Truck Quest!

I finally had to break down and decided to buy my wife something that wasn't diesel powered. We're picking up a 2000 Durango tomorrow. Seeing that I'm buying this car used I'd like to have more protection than the 2000 miles left on the factory warranty.

I'm considering buying an aftermarket extended warranty from one of 3 different companies. It's a 5 year/100,000 mile warranty. Cost is about $200 less than the dealer is offering and would allow me to bring the car to the mechanic of my choice for repairs.

Anyone have an experience with a company like this?

BTW, the 3 companies are WarrantyGold, 1 Source auto Warranty, and WarrantyDirect just in case you might want to check them out yourself.

Anywhere from $1000 to $1400. Alot of their business is through credit unions and insurance companies. Most have just started to sell over the internet. Seeing that the dealer wants over $1500 for a 60 month/100,000 warranty with a $100 deductible, these don't sound so bad. I know the cost of rebuilding a transmission would well than make-up for the expense.

The advantage I see is the fact that they pay the shop via credit card instead of me paying them and waiting for reimbursment.

The folks I have had the most success with is Chase America in Houston. I tried dealing with the warranty companies back east and it was a train wreck. My customers and I got so tired of those yamn dankees talking to us like red headed step children. Let me know if I can help. I can do 3 years UNLIMITED miles with a $100 deductable for way less than a grand. If you are going to be at the Texas Ramboree in Sept. we can do the paper work then.

I had Warranty Gold on my 98 Grand Cherokee. They paid for a new rear axle at aobut 50,000 miles no questions asked. It would have cost me about $1200 for the axle.

One thing i have learned with extended warranties. If you get it, you wont need it, if you dont get it, you will need it one day too late. Every stereo or TV i bought worked out that way. I may get the extended warranty for my 01' but i think i would rather spend the money on more stuff to make the truck more reliable. Just my 2c

So if you get the extended warranty and never need it, are you supposed to feel bad becasue your truck didn't break in 100,000 miles?

I think Edmunds.com points you toward warrentydirect.com. I checked out a few others and warrentydirect looked like the best. I'd definently get the $0 deductable - was like $50 more?

Good luck,

Pat

So, why would someone buy the extend warranty before the factory warranty runs out. Seem like they have your 1K+ in their pocket for three years. Ok, so I ran my new truck and then ran a 1998 with 37K miles, and price was double!!!!!!!!!! at Warrantydirect.com Now I get it. Snow King
