Hello. I have a 2001 2500 automatic with a Smarty, S&B intake, shift kit, torque converter and a 4 in exhaust. I have been searching the forums of TDR and I have found a lot of information about Air Dogg vs FASS and locating a stock pump on the frame rail vs leaving it on the engine but i can not seem to find any information on which model of lift pump people prefer (model of air dogg or fass). I have looked at GENOs and Diesel Manor and both offer many different models. I would like to get a reliable pump that will be able to keep consistent pressure with the modifications I have. Any one have any suggestions. I apologize if this information exists some where on TDR but to date I have not found anything. thanks in advance.

i have had a fass 95 on my truck for over a year now and have had no problems with it. mine has the dual filters on it which makes changing the filters very easy. i have a cousin that hashad the fass ddrp on his '02 for about the same amount of time and has had no trouble with it either. i would think either one of those pumps would do the job. whichever pump you choose you definetly want to relocate the pump to the frame rail.

Was the installation of the 95 or 150 relatively easy? Any problems getting your fuel pressure correct? Thanks again.

I used the Airdog 100 and will say both the Fass and Airdog are good pumps. I think both the Fass and Airdog are one of the easier installs you can do to your truck. Really your only choice is what horse power you are at, or wanting; to determine the correct model number to use for each brand.

If you get a FASS, get the Platinum model as it has a life time warranty. I went through two motors with the old system till I got smart! This model has constant 15 psi

my brother is a diesel mech and did most of the install for me. i dont remember it taking terribly long. i think other than getting hoses to the fuel tank it was a pretty easy job. fuel pressure was set by fass so that was a non issue. i too would recommend getting a pump with a lifetime warranty, its good peace of mind.

I've used the Airdog 150 for about three years and love it. The only issue I had with it was the output pressure. The spring that came installed in it allowed 22# fuel pressure which is too much for the vp44, so I changed it out with the lighter spring that came with it which put me at 10#. I thought that was too little pressure so I removed the light spring stretched it about half an inch and reinstalled it and now sit at a perfect 16# under any load conditions. Either Fass or Airdog are good units and you couldn't go wrong with either one. IMHO

If you want to leave the pump in the stock location, get the Fass DDRP, as it will fit there. I have the pump on mine, but down on the framerail with the vulcan big line kit. Very satisfied with it, never seen pressure drop below 8-9 psi.

I have the FASS DDRP and it was any easy install for me and I am no mechanic. It holds at 18 lbs most of the time and thats with an overhead camper pulling a jeep over Colo. mtn. passes. Its been on over a year.
