Guys,

The first thing I need for my 85 4 door is some cool rims and tires. That way it looks okay for now unitl I get a chance to work on it some. I wanted a set of the 2001 Aluminum rims, but The newer trucks have 9/16 studs and the first gen trucks have 1/2 x 20 studs. I can't find the thread where everyone posted pics of their first gens. Soem of you had some cool rims on your trucks. I am leaning towards the Mickey Thompson forged aluminum rims rated at 3300 lbs. each. They have a nice "classic" that has holes in it like on the first gen Powerstroke Fords and another type called the "challenger" that looks cool also. Any info or suggestions and some pics/pricing would be really helpful. I want a 16x8" rim so that I can put something like a 265/75 R 16 in a load range E.

thanks

Don

Don,

If you really want the new style factory wheels there is a thread I read a long time ago about special lug nuts to do the conversion, someone had some for sale, do a search.

I don't have any pictures but I have the Mickey Thompson Challengers by Alcoa, 16X8 w 305/70 16's I would go a little smaller on the tires but the wheels are perfect, I have never gotten so many compliments on a set of wheels before, everywhere I go people are saying how good they look.

They are not clear coated they are polished so I'm not sure how hard they are going to be to keep up as I've only had them about 3 months, they come real clean now, hope they stay way.

The tires I have rub at the front of fender opening on the trim and I still need to modify the fronts of my running boards as they sometimes rub there, not a lot but I wish they didn't hit at all.

Hope this helps,also see

Good Luck,

COOL WHEELS

Don:

If you like the 2000/2001 Dodge Wheels check out Centerlines new design called "THRUSTERS". I have them on my 93 and they look great(to me). They're fully polished forged Aluminum and are 4X4 rated.
