MY AGR box was good for 2 months, then it loosened up big time. 1 FULL TURN IN (that's a mile) on the over-center adjustment and its better, but still sloppy. Pitman arm output shaft is nice & tight. No side-to-side or in-&-out movement. The AGR tech said don't fool with bearing pre-load (as seen in the Dodge TSB). Like it's easy to yank the box and wait for them to check it. My truck needs gets me to work. All the steering linkage, trac bar & steering shaft are tight.
I saw an old thread where somebody mentioned Enterprise Engine for a rebuilt gear. I called and talked to Doug. He said a local rebuilder does their boxes. He is aware that the Dodge box is of poor design. Doug said he changes a few things in the box when he rebuilds it and this seems to really make the box work well and last. He claims everybody is happy with the performance.
I ordered one. About $275 + exchange.
After my AGR gets back from warranty service it will be in the classifieds.
