Hi all,
Just received a recall notice for the air bag inflator (silly takata). The recall was for the passenger side air bag inflator only. Why only the passenger side? is this usual?
Thanks,
Rog

not unusual I have done quite a few,If you look at the later 3rd gens their steering wheels are different than the 03.

I just received my second notice so will probably get the work done. Haven't checked to find out about part availability - have the waiting lists come to an end?

I usually do all my own work so not really excited about this - too many bad experiences. Mine is one of the last 07's w/5.9 and I have steering wheel controls for my radio/cd.. how invasive is this update? Anything I can remove before bringing it in? I R&R'd airbags from a VW Jetta I owned several times without a hitch - would install this too if I could get the part.

I just received mine for my three 03's, #R26/NHTSA 15V-312
(passenger side inflator), last week. My 06' has a different number R25/NHTSA 15-313 ,drivers side air bag inflator. The 06' also has a P80/NHTSA 14V-795,"clutch interlock switch spring could fatigue". I guess I should start scheduling to get these trucks "repaired".

I have to get mine in. I'm going to take the service manager on a tour of the outside of the truck in order to see it's lack of dings.

The pass side air bag recall gets an inspection for part# not all #s get replaced .The r-25 is a straight replacement of the inflator and the clutch switch is a very quick replacement. For the pass side it helps if you take it in with an empty glove box=it has to be removed and will spill.

Mine is the R25/NHTSA 15V-313, so it appears like it shouldn't take long.

Just called a dealer and nothing in stock - still putting folks on a waiting list.

That is surprising,we get them by the pallet load and return the bad ones by the pallet

I had to wait for mine on both my 04.5 and 08 Charger. Each was done overnight, but I told them I could wait because I had another vehicle. I didn't want the back up horn update done and they had no problem making sure it was not done. This is a pretty good dealer (Auto Nation North Phoenix), but I try to do everything myself. If I have to have something done I don't feel comfortable tackling, I'll take it to a 3rd party shop with a good reputation first.
