Air Bag Light On... had it diagnosed. 2004

I have read that the clockspring in the steering column is suspect.
I have a friend that does electrical and airbag diagnosis for a living. He stopped over last night. He had a remote unit that plugged into my port. Software came back and said mechanical disconnect.

I am also having issues with the steering wheel buttons so I think I'm just going to replace it.

Is it a difficult task?

Na, not to bad, it is quite forward. Only thing is to disconnect both batteries and after switch on the ignition to drain every power that is left in the system. So you wont get greetings from Takata.
