Damn saftey inspections, they caught that the air bag light won't illuminate. I checked the fuses, they are getting power with ignition on, but no light. I also checked the light in the dash, its an LED soldered into the circuit panel. I've never seen one burn out.

Any places to start?

Thanx

Don't know if it will help but if you e-mail me at -- email address removed --, I'll fwd the sections from the manual that I found re' air bag. They're a bit long for the forum.

Finally able to work on it. I replaced it with the trans temp LED. I don't think I need that one with a stick. The light works now, but it won't turn off. I ran the cluster through self check and got no error codes, but the light still won't turn off. Getting closer anyway. Any thoughts?

I have a question on removing the airbag. My 1996 2500 has 4 nuts on the back side of the steering wheel. I cannot see what type of bolt it is. What is needed to remove these 4 nuts? Manual calls them airbag attaching nuts but does not tell what kind. Any help.

Thanks Bob, now if I only had a new clock spring that did'nt cost an arm and leg, i'd be in good shape. Anyone got a spare one laying around?

10mm worked!

The bolts were 10mm, thanks! It is the clock spring that needs to be replaced. There is a twisted gold wire coming out that has been making the noise. Now I need to find a clockspring that will not clean my clock! I'll try Rockauto. Anyone know where to get one for a 1996 2500? Thanks!
