I have two 2007 TD's, one 2500 and one 3500 dually. Today I googled Fed list of vehicles being recalled for exploding airbags. I see Ram 2500/3500 for years 2005/2008 listed for the recall. I called the local Ram dealer and service guy ducked the question he said that Corporate would send me a notice, if there was a recall. I bought my 3500 used, so don't know if Corporate has my name on that one. Anyone have any info on this?

See this thread: https://www.turbodieselregister.com/threads/249504-Takata-Airbag-recall

One problem is the huge number of airbags that will need replacing. They were supplied to several manufacturers over many years. Even if Takata wanted to replace every suspect bag (which a recent news report said Takata is still declining to act) it will take years to make all the replacements. We have an ignition switch recall notice for another Dodge vehicle which said the part is not available and we will be notified when it becomes available. I assume one like that will eventually be issued for our trucks airbags.

What I'd like to know is if the bags should be disabled until a replacement is available. Someone with access to the data could probably figure the odds of the air bag being an exploder and maiming you compared to the odds of dying in a crash if the airbag doesn't deploy.

If you want to be notified call 800 992-1997 and give them your VIN and contact info. They will update the owner info if they do not already have it and you will be notified of any future recalls. Your dealer can also update the info.
