I need to get this taken care of but I have some concerns...
I have an aftermarket stereo head that is mounted to the bezel around the radio rather than held into the dash with the four screws. I don't see why this would be an issue because all they have to do is pull the bezel away far enough to get to the panel screws over the AB.
Are they going to whine about this and want more money?
Also, I seem to remember they wont be liable for cracking the dash or something like that. There's nothing wrong with my dash and there's no reason they should bother it to do the recall. Is this something they really warn the customer about?

Thanks,
Scott

The airbag recall should be at no cost to you. If you have a concern about the aftermarket stereo, I'd suggest you either remove the stereo or the bezel so they can do the recall and not screw up your radio.

Removal is the best answer, the tech makes nothing to spend more time working around aftermarket accessories.

......and unfortunately won't give a darn about trying to put it back together correctly. No offense Bob.

None taken.I always gave my customers the option-pull it yourself or pay if it affects the job. Some customers would rant and rave some would thank me for being honest how things work.To the ranters-feel free to take it any where else and try your luck.

Best check availability of the replacement airbags before you remove the equipment, I have been on the waiting list for over a year for the passenger side replacement.

I just had the recall done.
What a joke. They check the S/N on the AB and if it isn't on the list, your good to go. Had the steering dampener recall done to - same thing, they look at it and it isn't one of the offending parts so it's all good.
So I take several hours out of my day and really, nothing is done to my truck.

I did drive a 2017 2500 though.

Is it my understanding that my single din Alpine head unit will interfere with the passenger airbag install?

No, but they have to remove the decorative panel that goes around the radio and heater controls to access the screws on the left side of the AB cover. This was an issues for me because I used a double din kit that attaches the radio to that decorative panel rather then to the dash like the OEM is. So basically when they remove that panel my radio comes with it.
I was afraid this would confuse the crap out of my dealer and cost me a bundle.
Some (better IMO) kits have adapters that use the OEM radio mounts so the stereo stays in the dash just like the OEM when you remove the pretty panel.
