I'm ordering Air Bags for the rear this week. Curious as to which actually fit the Dodge better, easier to install? They are both basically the same and install the same but I noticed the Air Lift top mount appears to have slots rather than holes for the air bag attachment. It would then make sense to me that this setup would be easier to ensure a vertical lift instead of being cocked to one side due to the GNeck frame mount on side of the frame?

Thanks

Both are good.

Both kits are good... get the one with the best price. I've installed and owned both and they are equal in quality.

firestone bags have given us problems over the years. Goodyear bags are very reliable, if they make one for your app.

The AirLift bags on my Dodge/Cummins have survived 2 Baja trips carrying my cabover. The AirLift bags on my Toyota 4x4 survived more Baja trips than I can remember. If they can do that, they can survive anything else with ease.

Air Bags

I have had firestone air bags on my truck for the last two years with a 2 ton camper on top of them and have had no problems. I don't think you will have any problems with either brand if they are installed right.

I have the airlift bags on my truck. No complaints, they allow me to keep the truck sitting level when I pull my GN. Don't know about the firestones as I have never used them, but don't think that I'd choose one over the other. The bags on my truck are cocked a little to one side (even with the slotted mounts) due to the GN hitch being in the way. It hasn't hurt them yet. If it does I'll do something different next time.

Good luck,

Mike

Air Lifts

Some useful advice:

1. Measure the distance from the rear wheel opening to center of axle. That pertains to driveline angle. (empty)

2. Make sure that you have a bolt in every hole for the attach brackets (on frame). It came with two for each hole; it now has four oversize, after the two on right side broke and the bracket came through the bed:eek:

3. There is something about a brake valve that increases the rear braking with load. It will not work properly with the air bags.

I was reading Firestone puts a plastic disc in their bags that do burst under a certain pressure. The kids were putting them on their custom lowriders, and the upgrade compressors on the market will blow them . Some of the others claim you cant blow theirs out with the metal discs.

I put AirLift Super Duty air bags in my truck about a year ago. We tow a 14K 5er. I pump the bags to ~70-80 PSI and it rides level and smooth as a Lexus. No problems. Be sure to watch out for the brake line when you drill the chassis holes on the left side. Enjoy.

P. S. We also put in Rancho RS9000 shocks. What a combination, RS9000 and air bags... :) :)

Just a side note. I installed the Airlift Super Duty air bags on mine about a year ago and am very satisfied. Before I bought them I searched local retailers and Internet suppliers and found them cheaper at Camping World.
