Looking at getting air bags to help with my towing. What is everyone using, and what size should I be getting? Should I get the onboard air or not?... TIA... Scott

Hey Scott

I'm using Firestone Ride Rites 5K on my 05. I installed them over the X-Mas holidays while in Mt Vernon Wa. I bought them from Les Schwab in Burlington they work really well. I'm in wa st through out the year mainly in the summer. I've got friends in Lynden, and Ferndale. As far as the onboard compressor that would be the way to go if you want the top of the line set up. Just the bags will set you back around $275. 00 but they really give the truck a stable feeling for cornering, braking ETC. Hope this helps you out.

I also use the Firestone Ride Rites. The install what simple. Never having put airbags on a truck before the whole process took about 45 mins. I towed with a 04. 5 DC 2500 this weekend that didn't have them and the ride felt too squishy. I bought them off line and shipped to my house I believe it was around $250... I'll look for the web site and post it.

I also have Firestone Ride Rites. I'd HIGHLY recommend an on-board control and compressor. I bought the Dual Air Command II, which has a . 5 gal air tank, and a separate control for each bag. It also comes with a 25' hose which you can attach to a schrader valve mounted where you want to air up whatever you want. I think the compressor is good for 150 psi. Check out my reader's rigs for pics. I got mine from Michigan Truckspring which I think is : truckspring.com.
