Air Box/Air Filter Help

A friend needs help with his "03 CTD.

Other than the HIGH priced cold air systems, what else will help air flow?

He wants an open system, not just a drop in filter in the stock box.

Can he use the big open tractor filter like a lot of "02 CTD owners(what do you do with the IAT/AP sensor), or should he do something else?

I already know about fixing the tube between the air-box and turbo.

It sounds like your friend is aware of all the choices. He would be surprised what a drop in replacement like the AFE will do to wake up his truck. Also, our local a-oil pitchman (Amsoilman) swears by drilling a 4" hole in the bottom of the airbox.

I would not try to do away with the IAT sensor, it's just not worth the trouble when there's other alternatives that won't void a warranty.
