It seems that there was a thread on this a while back. Has anyone had trouble with the snorkel on the air box rattling or banging around while pulling a hill with a load at a higher rpm? Seems like I read that it might be collapsing.

Mike

You can take it out, or pop rivet it to the stock airbox to stop the rattleing. You will be sucking some hot engine air if you take it out, but the increase in volume of air would make it worth i would think.

The air temp doesn't seem to affect the power like you'd expect. The fender air isn't all that much (if any) cooler.

Try this: Go for a nice long drive on the highway on a hot day with the duct in place. Stop and put your hand on the top of the air box.

Now remove the duct and do it again.

I think the duct is more for noise attenuation than for air temp management.

Mike... I remember that thread... there were reports of the thing collapsing. Mine was out of the Ram long before I went to the scotty system.

If I was really worried about cooler air, I would check out Doug Holfeldt's new airdam. It looks sweet and I like the idea behind it.

I drilled some 7/8' holes in my snorkle and it seems quiter now. I did it on the underside so it can't be seen. I saw a post here where someone else had done it and it works out OK
