Well alot of you were at May Madd did any of you get to see these great hoods. Mr. Donnelly what did you think of these hoods, how did it compare to other products for air intake in your opinion? If anyone would like more information on these please e-mail me back.

Doug was setup just across the aisle from me. I got my first in person look at the "Air Bulldog". I think the hood is a real quality product, significantly sturdy. It has a real cool look too. I don't know how much longer I will be without one #ad
Lil' Scott1 is going to provide Doug the name of the outfit that does his "Psychotty Air" systems. This will speed up the manufacturering process a tad.

One of Doug's pit crew had the first twin Cummins powered trucks I have ever seen #ad
I am quite humbled... . hehehe #ad

Looked like a fine product and we had a good discussion. I don't know how much hp gain is realistic to expect with a turbo, but it is something worth looking into. The potential for reducing egt is worth studying too. Of course, in the looks department, the hood is a real eye catcher.

Which hood is this that we are discussing?

#ad

Is it this one?? Or something else?

Yup, that is the outside of Doug's truck. The important stuff is underneath the hood. This is a functional product which has mechanical grounding.

Well I also have this picture too #ad

I have a feeling I might try the hood down the road but right now I got TOO many things I wanna buy and in the process of buying for the Ram. So it will be a while. Is the hood fiberglass or is it steel???

It looks as good as steel but it is fiberglass (finished top and bottom.

Anyone have better pictures of the engine compartment?? Thats what I am curious to see. Just exactly where the air goes #ad

Anyone has pictures please post them, don't be shy.

Also what is the weight differences in the stock hood vs the fiberglass hood???

The weight is the same as stock, those big hole tubes you see in the picture are the actual inlets for all that fresh air that is being forced in. Originally posted by KatDiesel:

hotdiesel, could we please see a better pic (or pics) of the engine compartment? The pic provided cuts off what everyone wants to see!

I believe the hood is hand-laid fiberglass, not chopper gun, and weighs the same as the stock hood. It has steel reinforcements. The big inlet [look on the underside of the hood] goes to the airbox and the small one on the driver's side goes around the boost tube that comes from the intercooler and goes to the air intake on the engine.

Joe I couldn;t of discribed it better my self some of you wanted better photos of under the hood I will try to post some for you. I want to say that may maddnes and all the people I met was just wonderful super job all the way around.

I want thank all of you that put on may madness we had a great time. I have never met so many nice people in one place. Joe explaned my hood better then I could have and he was right on I will try to post some photos.

Doug, your on the site, #ad

I regret that I was not able to speak to you at greater length #ad

None the less, your hood is built with quality in mind and I am not going to be without it for long. You have given significant thought to reinforcing areas where mounting brackets attach without regard for production costs. Quality before quantity. I'll take quality everytime #ad

We need to get a study of egt with the hood and without. Anyone pulling a house and a half would find the hood beneficial for egt reduction. Are you able to mount a scoop over the air filter housing? that would be my preference.

Pictures you want? Then pictures you get!

Information taken from a website -

• Hand laminated fiberglass
• Gel-coated 24 mills
• Finished inside and out
• Accepts stock hardware
• Scoops have built in water deflectors
• Right scoop force feeds air to a custom air box through a 6 inch tube
• Left scoop forces air through a 4 inch tube that encloses the intercooler tube further cooling the air
• 15 to 20 more HP
• 1 to 1. 5 mpg increase

Cool outside air filtered by the custom air cleaner enters the compressor side of the turbo and is heated as it passes through. It is then delivered to the engine intake through an intercooler at a pressure higher than ambient. The intercooler and aft intercooler decreases the temperature of the air entering the after it leaves the turbo. When this air reaches the combustion chamber the density is increased. Resulting in greater horsepower and mpg.

If you want to see more on the hoods go to www.members. tripod.com/~dpofutah.
I took a 1600 mile trip this week end to see this hood and meet Doug. I truly see where this hood will work. Maybe not as much at sea level where I live, because the air is so dense, but when I pulled in to Ogden Utah I had to back my star wheel half way off just to get moveing. This hood will let me not have to do that. Simply by alowing the engine to breathe.
Doug has put alot of TLC into makeing these hoods, the one on his truck is 3 years old.
They are all fiberglass except in a few key areas where they have metal reinforcements.

Pleae note the ideal valve configuration on the engine in the picture #ad

A rule of thiumb is that reducing intake air temperature 1 degree reduces egt 1. 4 degrees. If that holds here, a significant egt reduction could be realized, especially on engines htat have had the airbox opened up for the sake of additional airflow.

Has anyone from this BB purchased one of these hoods? If so (and assuming you have it installed), what are your observations as to aesthetics, a possible mileage increase, as well as reduced EGTs?
