few weeks ago noticed the filter minder was pulled down about 1/4" (still had original filter). Filter did not really look bad. I changed the filter and installed a new Fleetguard. Was under the hood yeaterday and the filter minder was pulled down more than 1/4", pulled filter, still looks new? Any thoughts? I know the filter minder is not a very precise instrument but it has to see negative pressure to pull the piston down like that. bg

Mine has never moved once in 3 1/2 years. I don't know which I would like more, one that moves or one that doesn't. I wouldn't worry with a new filter.

My '07 moved from day one. My buddy's identical truck doesn't budge. Go figure! I'm running a Amsoil drop-in nanofilter now. No movement at all, even full throttle w/Smarty on #3

Mine does'nt move much either, I do not trust it,just check it every so often depending on the conditions...

I bought a Fleetguard filter once (from Geno's) the filter minder immediately pulled down farther than the old Mopar and the next new Mopar for whatever reason. Maybe the filterminder is just calibrated for the stock filter?

Mine pulled down brand new off the lot to 30% or so. I use mine and it works for me. If it gets to 50% or more, it's time to look at the filter. It's not an accurate instrument, it's a relative gaging tool. Keep an eye on how yours acts normally, and pay attention when it gets pulled down hard.
