OBD II Scan Tool

Hey guys, wondering if anyone has some suggestions to help me out.

Got a good deal on a IR 5hp 60 gallon air compressor last year with an SS 5 pump on at TSC last year. Didn't install it till a couple of months ago and just started using it. less then 1 hr running time so far. Long story short, Compressor runs fine but will not build pressure over 85psi and keeps running(makes sense, not hitting cut off pressure) head and motor get pretty hot, copper line to tank does not. Belt not slipping, no leaks. Any idea's on potential issues? Haven't called TSC or IR yet but will on Monday. Thought I get a basic idea on what might be wrong before I call them.

Thanks Pete

Check Valves and seals

When you say no leaks... I am assuming that is DOWNLINE from the compressor? That being said, I would look at the compressor itself, especially if it had been sitting idle for awhile. seals and rings/valves can loosen allowing air to bypass intended routes instead of being compressed and forced into the reservoir tank. I had a Campbell Hausfield that did just that very same thing. It is a 6. 5 HP 60 Gallon. 220V Had it for little over a year in my garage while rebuilding my shop. Finally finished the shop and Got it all set up, ran fine, but would not shut off or reach 'pop off' limits. It would only reach about 70 -75 psi. I called the company and they were pretty sure what the problem was. I got a rebuild kit from CH very resonable and easy to do. That fixed the problem. Valves and seals. If you do not use an air compressor it will eventually degrade. Like a generator come to think of it. Gotta run them and put a good load on once inawhile... like my truck! :-laf Good luck.

Tore the head off, found a lot off rust stuff laying on the valve plate, some of it lodged in the valves, valve plate itself pretty rusty as well. I think the head castings were pretty rough and some of the burrs rusted and fell off. IR was great to deal with and are sending me a new valve plate and gaskets. I think I will try to smooth the head up some. Ported if you will.

Sorry didn't read this till now you have a 2 stage compressor and the forst stage was pumping and the second wasn't as you saw from the valve body . Are you up and running? most this stuff is made in China that's why it's rough
