Air Compressor Hose

I have been trying to find an air hose for my compressor that will work in sub freezing weather. The one I have now is made of PVC and is impossible to handle in cold conditions. A Goodyear Rubber hose was not much better. Has anyone tried a Goodyear Pliovic or a Polyurethane hose?



I don’t want to go through another winter fighting with an air hose. I usually lose.

how about some welding gas hose? they are not rated for super much pressure [like 150psi] but that is enough for most conditions. they are pretty flexable. i had some with my old compressor. it was 1/4" ID and was flexable to like -40°. black rubber reinforced hose. max pressure was 125psi on the stamping. my governor was set at 120psi so it is just within the working pressures. new compressor runs to 125psi and i have 3/8" id hose. i think it is goodyear. try http://www.grainger.com/ for hose. they sometimes have ok prices...



if you have one of their retail outlets near you, you can ask to see the hose and feel it. if it feels super flexable it probably will be ok in cold.

I've tried all kinds of "works in the cold" hoses, all I can say is they all stay rolled up great when it's cold. Finally went with the cheapest hose Goodyear offers, don't remember the name but it's the cheap looking redish/pink stuff. They don't say anything about "works in cold" but it's worked the best for me. Doesn't hold up in the sun very well though.

I think I have the same stuff, it's "Goodyear wingfoot".

I also have "Swan Thermo red" that's OK in the cold.

Both are 3/8", and both say 300 PSI W. P.

New Jersey cold aint considered cold in other places though. It almost never gets to 0 here, and when it does, the last thing I'm doing is messin with airhose.
