Gentlemen

Today I was at a friends house and noticed a puddle under my truck. After some looking it appeared to be coming from the air conditioner compressor. It looked to be coming from behind the clutch/pulley assembly. After reading some past posts on the forum I see that I am not the only one who has lost a compressor. My question though, Is refrigeration oil/lubricant normally slimey sticky brown? OR is this something else that just ended up there due to being broadcast all over everywhere by the fan? None of my fluids are appreciably down so guess I am looking for someone to agree with my problem or to tell me I am barking up the wrong tree.

Thanks

Fred T

P. S. it should also be noted that I now live in a two diesel household. My son bought an 01 CTD in great shape. Only has 113,000.:eek::eek:

Just a thought but I had one the other day that the water pump appearred to be seeping on and it was coating the front of the a/c compressor to make it look like it was leaking. Is your a/c compressor still engaging and cooling properly?

Most likely the front seal on the compressor. If you get the seal replaced before using the A/C OR the defrost setting, you might be able to save the compressor. If you continue to use it, you will loose the charge and oil causing failure.

Welp

No need to worry about the compressor, it is for sure the water pump. Today coolant is running out from behind the fan like a waterfall. We are off to the parts store.
