2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission air control switch & center console

I have only owned my truck a few months and have two small problems that are beginning to annoy me. First is the air control switch. No matter what position the switch is in the air will only blow out of the defrost vents. Next is the center console. Are there any easy fixes to keep the lid closed when it is in the upright position? I only keep my registration and insurance papers in it so it is not a weight problem. I am getting tired of hearing my children in the back seat say "Dad the lid opened again". Thanks.

The air is coming out of the defrost vents because somewhere under the hood a vacuum line either has a hole in it or is off. Its blowing throw the defrost vents because thats what it defaults to. Happened to me on my 01

As far as the consol is concerned you need to adjust the hold down screw. Use a pair of vise grips because it's pretty tight. Un screw it a little and it should hold.
