When I change the dash knob to select defrost or foot heat the air only comes out the 4 dash vents . Also the heat control only works at the max setting . I wont fine tune the heater temp. Any one have some sugestions?

if it was just the blower location control [dash/floor/defrost] i would say blend door, but if the temp also doesn't adjust, it might be the heater control panel [fan speed/temp/blower local]. . ?

As for the heat control, I've found that if you go all the way cold, or all the way hot(opposite of what you actually want) then go back the other way, you can get it where you need it. Make sense?

I just had this same thing fixed on my 2004. 5. Cost was about $800. 00. They kept the truck for a week. Had to take it back because they left the heat control switch unhooked (after they told me they checked everything out) Had to take it back 2nd time because they pulled the dash lights loose when they fixed the heat control switch. I've got it back now and only thing that does not work is the light for the drivers heated seat! I'm not taking it back again. Good luck! Parts list reads;

5086718AA RING A/C A 1 @ $89. 32

5073983AA DOOR MODE 1 @ $88. 00

5019632AA COUPLING AIR 1 @ $ 7. 54

LABOR !!! $497. 00

I had the heat control problem also but this fixed it and I don't see anywhere on the ticket where they put any switches in for what it's worth.

Well, mine just started to act up. I have some heat going to the floor, but most of it is directed toward the defrost. I guess it's time for me to look up this TSB everyone is taking about. Why does it have to happen when it's below 0?

took mine to the dealer for the same problem - $963. 95 + parts/tax-est. - told them to put it back together. called D/C cust. service to see if it is a recurring problem and if i could get some assistance on the expense - nope - out of warranty (both miles and time) - so no go on that idea. i'm going to have the dealer fix it anyway in a day or so - D/C customer service says there will be a warranty on the repair - and then i'm going to try the arbitration route to try to get a partial reimbursement on the repair. cross your fingers - its an expensive fix for something thats kinda not supposed to break - like ever.
