I am thinking about getting an AirDog while they are still on special. For all who have done this, did you remove your old filter housing and if so what did you do with the WIF and filter heater connections. Will they throw a code if they are not hooked up? Can you put a filter heater on the AirDog?

I would like to know this also, as I just received my Airdog FP100 about 1 hour ago! :)

Any other tips and tricks for installing an FP100?

TIA

When I installed the Airdog on my truck, I did remove the old filter housing as it frees up so much space in the engine compartment. I simply unplugged the wif sensor and the heater wires and sealed them off with heat shrink tape. However you need to make sure the wif sensor wires a very well sealed, because in heavy downpours I will get the light to come on on the dash occasionally. Other than that I haven't had any issues at all in about two years now.

I took my housing out and wrapped sensors to make them water proof. No codes over a year now. Truck ran fine all winter long w/o fuel heater.

I'm pretty sure that my WIF sensor is plugged in to the new harness... in fact, my WIF light came on about two weeks after I had the AirDog installed. Now I need to see if it is installed or not!

I did not have anywhere on the harness to plug the wif sensor wires, and as far as I know, there is no sensor on the airdog unit.

I agree with this statement. I left my OEM filter canister in without the filter(some leave the OEM filter as well). Seems to work ok doing it this way as removing it. Personal preference rains supreme on leaving or removing the OEM filter and canister.

I removed mine filter and housing, I had to build an aluminum spacer to reuse the bolts on the intake manifold. I but silicone grease in the connector and wire tied it out of the way not water signal yet. Then ordered one extra fuel filter to have on hand. they are usually good for a year.

I don't know why my WIF light came on then. When it did, I shut the truck off and coasted to the shoulder. I crawled under the truck and opened the AirDog petcock for a few seconds, then got back in the truck and started it up again with no light... ... interesting.

Charlie, any thoughts on this?
