Which of these fuel pumps and filtration systems have you guys heard more about? and which one do you think a Navy guy that does hardly any towing but has 300,000 miles on his 99 should use! I am on a budget so any other suggestions would be helpful!!!!

I've heard a lot of good stuff about the FASS but I have not had personal experiance with this brand though.

I do have the AirDog FP100 and I really am happy. It has never given me a problem and my FP is rock solid at 18 PSI and drops to 17 PSI at WOT. The only time I hear it running is when I first turn the key and wait for the "wait to start" light to go out...

There seems to be a lot of debate on this and other forums about FASS vs AirDog. I believe that they are both quality products and you will probably be happy with whichever you end up choosing after you complete your research... :D

Good luck,

Scott-

I second SMcGrady on the AirDog. Mine puts out a constant 13-15 towing or empty with my tuner and the gauge mounted at the VP-44 and WITH the factory canister and filter in place. I'm sure it would jump to 16-18 psi if I removed it (and I may after this filter goes) but for now I'm satisfied.

From what i hear though, FASS and AirDog are nearly the exact same thing and in fact are made by father and son. I would go with whichever one you can get the best deal on.

Was just thinking about this. . I don't see a reason to get the full on fass. Just get the HPFP. First, it's cheaper. :) You will get the heavy duty motor without all the extra filters & weight (easier to mount - less hanging down under the truck). The OEM filter works fine and is close to the VP44, has heater, etc. . Like Diesel-Dan said in a thread not too long ago "Not much in an HPFP to go wrong. "

Then you can plumb the OEM carter pump as a back-up in case of failure.

Then. . One day you can do like I'm going to do and use a mechanical pump as the primary and the fass as the backup. It sounds like overkill now, but there is no such thing as overkill when it comes to our fuel supplies.

I'd suggest a mechanical, but you only asked about "FASS or Airdog". .

Just noticed you show For Sale in your sig. . Might as well just put a cheapo carter or airtex on it if you don't plan on keeping it.

(Thanks for the service to our country)

I miss the good ol days where threads like this would start a flame... Boy have we come a long way.

Seriously, I don't think you can go wrong either way.

I think I am going to go with the air dog since I am not doing a huge build just minor build ups!!

That was my thinking when I got mine... I do not intend to bomb the heck out of my truck. I did put DDP 75 HP injectors in mine and the AirDog/injector combo seems to complement each other...

Well you got to think do you just want a replacement pump (useing your stock ff) or do you want a whole system?. If you just want a pump there are many good systems to choose from, but if you want a full system both air dog and fass are very good.

I have a full fass and I'm happy.

Is CM3 a SeeBee? Thanks for your service.

I don't have either pump. Friend has Fass on his 99'. No problems. Like the idea of extra filters. This would allow running a 4micron absolute filter.

Yes CM3 is a seabee but I do think I am going to go with the airdog it seems a little more my proce range and from what I have heard a pretty good system. I just need to take care of this check engine light that just came on first!

i would also have to say the Airdog is a bit superior. it has a 2 micron filter and is much smaller and lighter also it's a very easy install and the support from the company is second to none. and the 100 kit is still good up to 550 hp.

if I am thinking I might be upgrading a lot more down the road should I just go ahead and invest in the 150 airdog since it is not a whole lot more!?

You can't go wrong with either system. the bigger question is do you want the full system or just the pump?

There's schools of thought for both.

Nice thing is to have a full lifetime warranty of either.

I have the Airdog 100, purchased via Dave that posted above me. Very nice unit and cheaper than FASS. I give 2 thumbs up to Diesel Distributors also.

I have an Airdog. It's been in over 2 years and no problems. The great thing is when they announced they are giving a lifetime warranty they said that even goes for their previously sold pumps/models, thats good service there.

DAve when I am ready I am gonna hit ya up!! /i appreciate al the help! well what other things can we discuss that will start a flame!? I will have to think of some more... . read later posts!!

LOL

Well, hopefully there's nothing to start a war about. What I have found is that most people believe in the products they purchase. Usually, there's a bunch of hard earned in there. And no one wants to hear that they made a purchasing mistake.

That's what makes these forums great. You get lots of information. The trick is digesting it.
