Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Air fillter change when?

I don't have the book where I am. Filter indacator is good and truck has almost 20,000. I check it a while back and the sponge looked grimmy. I cleaned it by rubbing it. It was like coating of pudding. I have a new one coming from Geno's now. Thanks

When the indicator shows that it is time to change that is when you should change it. Don't open up the box and take it out, unless you want to change it. Mine needed to be changed in my 2000 at around 50K miles. They actually filter better when they get a little dirty. Save your money unless your bored and just want to change your air filter.
