Im planning on changing mine at 20k, I already have 2 spares just in case I think i need to change them sooner; I have 15k on it now. I'm sure there will be more life left but I think the cost of the filters are cheap for the protection they serve and the cost of the truck; In my judgement, it is all relative.
I used to work at a converter station the converted DC electricity to AC, approximately 1800 megawatts, or $30,000 per hour of electricity. My dumb ass boss would not buy us stainless steel bolts for our pumps, so after about 1 year the bottom of the pump housing fell off to the bottom of the sump and quit pumping. This nearly caused a domino effect and tripped off all of this power. He run a multidollar outfit like it was a skateboard shop. The city of Los Angeles is still paying for his ineptness, and that means the taxpayers. I know what maintenence is all about and the parts cost are relative to the cost of what they are trying to keep up & running! JMOPO
