Air filter box

air filter box look as if it should be connected to the fender some how. But it is not touching . So is mine missing something or is it not suppose to connect? This is on 2008 3500 6.7 thanks

They had a strip of one sided adhesive foam on them when new but most fell off shortly after the trucks were put into service. At least that's what I think I remember my 07.5 having.

On my 2005, when I noticed that gap that you are talking about, I replaced the thin oem foam gasket with a much better, thicker one and then drilled two small holes through the box and the fender and tightened them together using small, fine thread machine screws and wing nuts on the inside of the box. The holes DO need to be tiny and well placed as there is not much flange on the fender to wok with, but it is mUCH better attachment now. Of course at the same time, I was doing the Home Depot CAI mod to the air box, so I had the box out anyway.

Mine rotted out in short order. I haven't worried about replacing it.
